The sun had begun to set.
Rin liked to watch the sunset when she could. Before she started traveling with Sesshoumaru, she would always watch the sun set - not only because it was beautiful - but because it would help distract her from the cruel memories that had tormented her while she was alone.
When Rin had been alone, the sunset gave her hope. 'I have made it through another day...' she would think.
Even if the quality of her life had been - at the time - poor, she felt that if she lived another day, then the world must still have had a purpose for her. Rin believed that one day, someone would save her from that cruel life.
Rin could not see the sunset now, but only the rays that managed to break through the leaves of the trees. She rode on the back of A-Un as she looked up toward the tree-tops, the rays of light reflecting in her eyes. A-Un stopped abruptly, and Rin sat up in response.
Rin looked ahead of her to see Sesshoumaru and Jaken. She heard Sesshoumaru speak - but she did not understand his words - she only processed a low, melodic hum that danced in her ears.
Jaken broke her from her trance, saying that they were going to rest here for tonight. Rin didn't mind, she supposed it was going to get dark soon; though it was strange. Often, Rin would sleep on A-Un as they continued on their travels - perhaps there was something ahead?
Rin noticed that Sesshoumaru was gone.
This did not surprise her. Rin removed herself from A-Un, instead taking a seat under a tree next to a small patch of wildflowers. She sat there for some time, knotting flower-stems together to make a bracelet.
Jaken appeared to be watching her, and it made Rin wonder if Sesshoumaru was up to something dangerous. She was curious - as always - and decided to ask, "Master Jaken, did Lord Sesshoumaru tell you what he was going to do before he left?"
Before he could respond to her question, Rin saw a flash of something green, only moments later she felt a sharp, hot pain swell in her foot. She saw a demon-snake latched onto her - it was a hideous creature, and the sight of it frightened Rin terribly.
Rin screamed, and violently shook her foot in an attempt to get the demon off of her. It did not take long for the demon to loose grip of Rin, and lay squirming on the ground. Jaken immediately burst the snake into flames, making lots of noise in response.
Rin squeezed her foot tightly, hoping that it would dull the pain; she noticed her foot beginning to swell as the poison set in, and start to spread throughout her small body.
'Lord Sesshoumaru will save me.' Whenever Rin thought about Sesshoumaru, she could not be afraid. 'I have found a purpose in my life, it is why I see the sunset at the end of the day...' Rin felt her beaded-tears escape her eyes, and start to roll down her cheeks, 'I will not die.'
"...Lord Sesshoumaru!"

"The day is ending..." Whispered the young boy to himself as he leaned against a large tree. He was no botanical expert, the type of tree was unknown to him, it could be poisonous for all he knows. Not that would bother him in the slightest.
Teiko looked up at the sky being covered by night's cover. Maybe he could keep sane for a while longer, he enjoyed stargazing. Anther activity that kept him away from The Voice's control.
'Why...do you ...fight? I grow stronger... while you weaken...' said a crude, and somewhat broken voice. 'you are nothing... but my... puppet. a vessel... for my.. power." It continued, while Teiko held his head in pain resisting to cry out in pain.
'Shut up! Shut up!' Teiko yelled in his mind and it did disappear but not before a chuckle was heard before it was gone. So much for keeping sane then... Teiko sighed, depressed, and still in slight pain. he needed to search; to find something.
Find what, though? A cure for the demon? maybe something that can keep him distracted for an eternity? or just something that is able kill him and end it? He didn't know the answer himself, all he knew was to move forward and search or something.
And that's what he did. He pushed off the tree and began to walk deeper into the western territories. Hoping to find something to do.
He just then noticed one small problem, where the hell is he anyway? He was never good with directions and just managed to get lost. He looked in all directions and sighed.
When all else fails, move forward. He continued to traverse the same path he intended more west away from the path since he didn't know where the path was anyway. He's stuck wandering a forest until he finds a person or a village nearby.

Jaken had not expected a demon to escape Lord Sesshomaru. He had been watching Rin instead of the area around him. When the saw the weak snake demon he had tried to hit it with the staff of two heads, although he missed and struck the ground. What was the demon aiming at? It had missed him!
It was then that Jaken heard a scream. He turned around and saw that the snake demon had bit Rin's foot. "Rin!" Jaken shouted as he ran forward, he tripped and dropped his staff. He stood up again and burned the demon, but by then the damage had been done.
Jaken ran to Rin and knelt down beside her, "Rin! Rin, are you hurt? Did it bite you?" Rin did not answer, but Jaken noticed that she was holding her foot. Jaken was surprised that it was swelling although she had been bitten a moment ago! Jaken assumed that although the snake demon was weak, its poison was strong enough to hurt a human child.
"Hold still, Rin! I will suck the poison out!" Jaken attempted to take Rin's foot in his mouth, but Rin screamed in pain and pulled her foot from him when he touched it. Jaken watched Rin cry in pain and decided that he would not be able to suck the poison out with his beak.
"Ok, wait here! I will get Lord Sesshomaru. He will know what to do! Wait here, Rin!" Jaken ran in the direction Lord Sesshomaru had run in. Jaken thought to himself, "I am certain Lord Sesshomaru, as powerful as he is, has already obliterated those weak demons! Should I be worried, however? He must be wounded to have let one escape."
Jaken saw Sesshomaru ahead. The corpses of weak demons were scattered around him. "Lord Sesshomaru! Lord Sesshomaru!" Jaken through himself at Sesshomaru's feet. "Forgive me, my lord! Rin has been bitten by a snake demon!" Jaken dared to look up at Sesshomaru from his bow. "I... did not know what to do. I thought that you would, as great as you are."
Jaken saw that Lord Sesshomaru was not injured. He sighed in relief. "I am glad that you are not injured, my lord. I was worried when a demon escaped you. Forgive me!" Jaken bowed his head again, although he expected to be stepped on.

Teiko continued to stroll through the seemingly endless forest. Trees, grass, dirt, and the occasional animal or two was all to be seen.
'Boring.... Boring.... Boring!' was all the traversed through the boy's mind. He need something to do, something to distract him. a good fight would do the trick...
Just then, he heard from a distance, a scream from a girl. young girl for sure... He listen carefully. Its about half a mile away. he estimated.
At that Teiko took off in a sprint, it barely took him several seconds until he saw where he heard the scream. He didn't get close though, he stayed hidden and watch. This was a rare time when he stops and observe.
From his point of view, Teiko saw some kind of green midget demon. A strange two-headed bird thing. then a small child. He noticed her foot swelling quite large.
As he continued to analyze, he noticed a pile of ash. Scales were visible, Green, and quite large. 'Yamakagashi Snake demon. Vemon average drop of two. Weak Venom, causes swelling, a continuous pain over an hour. Possible to kill human child if they are not strong enough.'
Teiko managed to piece that together but he could not understand why they would attack... They're usually so docile...
Teiko had been too much into thought that he had not noticed the small green demon leave. They didn't seem hostile... yet. Either way he couldn't take chances.
He moved a quick pace, but not enough to give away his presence to either of them. He headed to the young girl on the wild flower patch.

Rin looked after Jaken as he ran away from her, in an attempt to find Sesshoumaru. This scene reminded her of the time when Jaken had fallen ill, and she had been the one to try and save him. Though it was slightly different - Sesshoumaru had been too far away at that time for her to have tried to find him, which resulted in her having to venture out to find medicine by herself.
The small girl-child focused on these memories, so that she could pay less attention to her pain, and her fear. Rin couldn't help but be slightly scared, even though she knew that Jaken and Sesshoumaru were going to save her; her foot hurt very badly and she didn't know how long she could live with this venom inside of her.
Rin didn't notice the movements of the stranger. Being a young human who had not gone through any kind of training, she could not sense auras very easily; the venom was also affecting her senses mildly. But even through her blurred vision, she could make out A-Un as he began to start acting strangely. The dragon demon started growling, and looked as if he were getting ready to charge at something.
With all of her strength, Rin crawled toward A-Un, so that she wouldn't have to walk on her swollen foot. She managed to grasp the demon's reigns, in an attempt to calm him down.
"...A-Un," Rin looked up at the demon's heads, so that she could see what direction they were looking in. "...What is it, A-Un?" she whispered.
While holding on to A-Un's reigns, Rin turned her head to look in the direction where A-Un was staring. She did not see anything alarming, but she knew that something must be hiding there. The girl-child gathered up as much energy as she could to speak loudly, "Wherever you are, do not come any closer...!" Rin was breathing loudly, even as she spoke, "If you try anything..." she tugged on A-Un's reign, causing him become more alert, "...You will not live through it!"
With her other hand, Rin picked up a nearby rock to arm herself with. She wondered what intentions this thing had with it's presence? 'Does it want to eat me...?' she thought, as she prepared herself for an attack.

The snake that had gotten past him had bitten Rin…
Upon hearing those words from Jaken, something churned in Sesshoumaru’ss gut—it was the realization that he had made a mistake.
He had been overly confident, and it made him careless. Thus, in his own hubris, he was proven the fool.
Now, she was going to pay the price for his mistake.
He had left Rin with Jaken and Ah-Un while he went to dispatch the horde of lesser youkai that had encroached upon their camp. One of them had darted away from the group, and he had allowed it to pass. He had intended to take care of the main horde first, and then come back for one that remained.
However, it took him longer than he had expected to defeat them.
He took too long. He was…
Too slow.
If the youkai was venomous—and judging by Jakan’s panic, it surely was—Rin was in grave danger. If she was truly poisoned by snake youkai venom…
The churning in his gut worsened into something more… foreboding:
Uncertainty.
If Rin had become poisoned, what would he do about that? He knew little in the ways of curing poisons—less so when the victim was human.
Sesshoumaru sheathed his sword and stepped past Jaken. Without any more delay, he swiftly made his way back toward camp.
As he neared, though, a scent in the wind caught his nose. It was the smell of a human male. His eyes narrowed. What was a human doing here?
Never mind that…
The human would have to be something to address later--Rin needed attending to, first.

Detected.... But by who? The girl or the demon? Most likely, the demon. The girl is probably near fainting, or death. He really couldn't tell. Either way, His cover was blown and he really did not want to expose himself.
'Suzu... Would be... so disappointed... Detected by... lowly demons...' The Voice began to speak again in it's despicable, broken voice. 'A disciple... her judgement... must have failed her...' It continued to insult.
Again, Teiko held back a growl holding his head in pain. Why wont this thing just shut up? Leave him be? How this thing even enter him? Suzu did nothing... Did she? He didn't remember... He snapped back to reality when he heard the girl's threat.
Teiko stood up from his cover and exposed himself to the girl and the demon. "I'm no threat." He spoke in a emotionless, empty voice. It would be difficult to hear him. He always spoke like he was whispering.
He kept a close eye of the demon, He wasn't going to let his guard down. He kept a hand on the handle of the knife, which was sticking out of a hole in the side of the satchel. He looked at the girl;s foot and noticed the swelling getting worst than he thought.

Jaken ran after Sesshomaru when Sesshomaru walked past him. "Lord Sesshomaru! Please wait, Lord Sesshomaru!" Sesshomaru walked into the glade where Rin rested with A-Un. A-Un nudged Rin with concern. Although A-Un was not an intelligent demon it knew that Rin was not well.
Jaken ran ahead of Sesshomaru to Rin. "Rin! Did you move?" Jaken noticed that although Rin had been under a tree, Rin was now a meter or two away from where she had been. Jaken knelt beside Rin and realised that she was pale and drenched in sweat.
"Oh no." Jaken said, uncertain what to do with her. "Do not move anymore, Rin. The poison will circulate." It was then that Jaken heard a voice. It was the voice of a young man. Jaken looked in the direction of the young man and saw that it was a human! What was he doing here?
"You! Human!" Jaken shouted at the young man. "If you have no reason to meet with Lord Sesshomaru, leave now! Lord Sesshomaru has something important to attend to." Jaken looked at Lord Sesshomaru. "Lord Sesshomaru?" Jaken asked. "Is there anything I can do to help? Can I get help? Can I get medicinal plants? Can I find a bandage? Or should I make a bandage?"
Although Jaken tried to keep calm, Jaken was very worried about Rin. He did not know how poison would affect a human. Rin was also not just a human, Rin was a human child! Jaken wondered if her age and size depended on the affect of the poison. "Lord Sesshomaru!" Jaken looked at Sesshomaru, tears streaming down his face.
"What should we do?"

The sun had set entirely, and it was dark now. Rin felt her grip on the rock loosen, although she attempted to stay focused. She hoped that Sesshoumaru would return soon, so that he could protect her from this hidden stranger, and hopefully stop the pain that she was feeling right now. Rin waited anxiously, expecting something to come out and attack her.
When she heard the sound of something approaching, Rin shut her eyes and screamed, dropping the rock at her side. Her scream was followed by the sound of Jaken's voice, 'Master Jaken, is that you...?'. Rin opened her eyes slowly, and saw Jaken standing before her. He told her not to move anymore, and she nodded slightly in response - she was too exhausted to move much more than that.
Shortly after Jaken spoke, the presence that A-Un had sensed revealed themselves, saying that they were no threat. Although, they seemed to be on guard, as if they were expecting A-Un to attack. Rin still held on to A-Un's reigns, which usually kept him calm, although it seemed that he had already calmed down, now that he was in the presence of Sesshoumaru.
Rin looked up toward Sesshoumaru, who was now being questioned by Jaken. As Jaken questioned him, she began to wonder herself - what did Sesshoumaru plan to do? She was trying as hard as she could to remain conscious, though she could not rely on her will alone. Rin watched him, expectantly. Through her blurred vision he appeared to her as something of a white angel, who had come once again to save her from her troubles.

Teiko watched as the green midget, returned and already started yelling at him. What the hell? did this thing think that Teiko would listen to it? Fat chance.
As night began to finally devour the last bit of day, the forest looks somewhat eerie, but at the same time a bit relaxing. Teiko noticed the girl keep the two-headed demon was calm but the other one was panicking.
After wondering who he was talking to, He noticed a man nearby. He had a very strange presence, barely anything was felt.... he wore a rather strange outfit as well... He must be some sort of demon.
When he noticed their panicking, He sighed. He couldn't help, He idn't know how to make anti-venom. All he knew was that they needed the actual venom from the species of snake. He didn't say anything just yet, he wanted to see what the demons next moves were first.
