Inu-Kimi didn't often leave her castle. If the Demon Lady ever had business outside of her domain, then she would send one of her servants to take care of it for her. She didn't know why she was here, as she stood atop a tall ledge.
From this view, Inu-Kimi could see the Inu-Daiyoukai castle in the distance. It was far away, but it was close enough for Inu-Kimi to smell her son's scent. She remembered visiting the castle before; many times she had when Inu no Taisho was still alive, and Sesshoumaru was still a pup.
'Sesshoumaru is not there...'
Sesshoumaru's scent lingered in this area, but she knew he was not inside that castle in the distance. After Inu no Taisho had died, Sesshoumaru had become the Lord of the West in his place - though he did not act like it. 'Sesshoumaru, you are nothing like your father...'
Inu-Kimi felt that Sesshoumaru was a lot like her - he resembled her, and he was so much like her in personality. She knew that he would disagree, but that was only because he did not know her very well. Inu-Kimi was a lonely woman, who had far too much time on her hands - it gave her a lot of time to ponder on things. Though she did not express her doubts to anyone, she felt that she had done a lot of wrong while raising Sesshoumaru.
'Even if you are like me now, Sesshoumaru, I know that you will become more like your father eventually.' Inu-Kimi thought that Inu no Taisho was foolish, the way he had loved mortals, and how he had died for one - but she believed that he was happy.
When Sesshoumaru was born, Inu-Kimi has wanted him to be powerful, and independant. But as she watched him grow powerful, and more independant - she also noticed him also grow colder, and more dismal. She did not see Sesshoumaru often, but whenever she did, she could see the sadness in his eyes.
Inu-Kimi wanted Sesshoumaru to be happy, as Inu no Taisho had been. 'Perhaps there is hope for you yet, Sesshoumaru, the mortal that you protect is proof enough of that.'
It was night. The crescent moon was bright, and the stars were many - they lit over the dark land as the cold wind engulfed the lonely woman. She had been distracted with her thoughts before, but now she could smell the presence of something nearby, its smell was nothing she could identify.
Inu-Kimi did not turn around, though she knew that the creature was not far from her, "Do I seem sad to you...?"
She did not know why she had addressed the creature of the night, but she wanted to know if they could see any sadness in her, as she always detected in her son.

* - - - you flooded through my veinsYOU LEFT ME BROKEN The sickly sweet taste of opium was still lingering around him as he wandered through the Western Lands, looking for a quick meal to catch. Human, demon, it didn't matter to the devil. Just as long as it was still breathing, it was a meal to him. However, the meal would only last him a few hours. After all, the devil's inner self was always hungry for more. It was like it was searching for the perfect meal to devour itself in. To bathe itself it. It craved something like that and it was that something it was probably never going to get.
Leon had spent mot of the night in a nearby inn, smoking his opium pipe, drinking weak alcohol, and talking to some humans that spoke about a great demon lord that lived close by. Supposedly, the demon lord could even challenge the gods in power. He chuckled at that, finding it amusing that these humans didn't even know how powerful a god could be. After all, he himself had suffered a god's wrath for centuries. He knew just what a god could do to someone.
He left the inn in search of where this powerful demon lived. He was told by the villagers that the demon lord was of inu descent with the purest of the pure blood running through his veins. He himself didn't know much about inu demons, but he knew that they were territorial, loyal, and strong. That's what he worried about. He worried about the strong part. After all, Leon hadn't fed in a few days and he could already feel his body weakening. Any longer of this starvation could possibly make him immobile.
He didn't need to be weak again. He refused to be weak. Hell, he could even go for a hanyou right now. He was desperate. Taking down a powerful demon wouldn't be the greatest idea right now, but he could feed off his energy for a while. That could be enough to get him up to full strength for a little while. He wandered until he sensed someone near. He sniffed the air, detecting that that someone was indeed a female demon. She appeared to be of inu descent and had this strong aura about her. He could feel his inner devil sing as soon as it caught whiff of the demon's aura. It wanted more of this aura. It craved it.
However, he held back. He was in no shape to simply feed without asking. After all, it was quite an assault on one's personal aura. The boy would be able to sense the foreign attack and would reject him immediately. He needed to make the demon feel comfortable around him. He couldn't be off threat. He heard her ask him a question. Ah, so she was a bright one. She could sense him from the shadows. A small smile appeared on the devil's lips. And to answer her question, she did look sad. She looked very sad. Was she missing someone. Did something bad happen? Who knows.
Leon eyed her clothing and deducted that she was of royal descent. After all, normal plain demons didn't roam around in such elegant garments. He stepped out of the shadows, with the smile still on his face. He stood about 5 feet away from her, with his hood down and face in plain view. He sighed and spoke in a smooth voice, his accent elegant and gentle, "You do look very sad, my Lady. Very sad indeed. You also look as if you are trying to hide it. Like you are trying to be strong. May I ask what is plaguing you, my Lady?"

The sound of the creature's voice seemed to ring in the daiyoukai's ears, it had been a long time since she had heard the sound of a man's voice. Though, Inu-Kimi couldn't help but notice a strange tone from the man's voice. It sounded weak. His words were confident, but they were coming from a body that did not seem confident in health.
The Demon Lady turned around to face the stranger. Upon seeing him, her assumption proved to be true, the man did not appear to be taking very good care of himself - though, his aura was very strong. Inu-Kimi closed her eyes, as she focused on her sense of smell. Though, she still could not identify what exactly this creature was.
It wasn't until Inu-Kimi felt a pulse from the Meido Stone that everything made sense to her. The daiyoukai's eyes opened slowly in response, as she laid a hand over the large gem strung around her neck. The stars reflected brightly in her eyes, as the crescent moon glowed brightly behind her - a perfect match to the one on her forehead. The skies were her territory, and that was mirrored in her face.
'The Meido Stone... It is reacting to this creature's presence.' Inu-Kimi averted her eyes away from her stone, and looked ahead of her to the stranger. Her Meido Stone was a gift to her from Inu no Taisho, and gave her powers of the underworld. This reaction could only mean that the stranger standing before her was somehow of the underworld.
Inu-Kimi thought about what he had said to her, it was as she had expected. 'What is plaguing me..?' The daiyoukai had an idea, "You are the second person to ever tell me that I seem sad..." Inu-Kimi remembered Inu no Taisho, he had been the first one to ever address her sadness, without her even asking. She had tried asking Sesshoumaru the same thing she had asked this stranger, and he had responded that she had no reason to be sad.
"If I am sad, then I do not know why. I cannot answer your question with confidence... Though, I can assume that it is because I am alone." She did not feel that it was necessary to explain much further, but she felt a desire to continue, as she did not confide in others often. "I do not think you could understand, but I am sad because my son is sad. I have raised him un-affectionately, and now he has abandoned me." Inu-Kimi remembered the day that he left her, after Inu no Taisho had died - that day she felt that she had lost everything, it was the first time she ever thought she had done something wrong.
Inu-Kimi clenched her fist that laid over her Meido Stone, "Sesshoumaru..." she whispered.
"But you... You are not of this world, and you seem very sad yourself."

* - - - you flooded through my veinsYOU LEFT ME BROKEN "Alone? Ah that is a common feeling among this world, isn't it?
" He paused, thinking of his response. He could feel her loneliness. He himself was lonely. After all, he hasn't had a companion in such a long time. Ashasuni didn't really count, after all. He was only an abuser, someone that used him and tossed him away each night and day. Leon himself was just a pet to the god. A pet that was for all to use and toss away. A pet that was surrounded by chains that bound him to his master. His smile turned sad as he thought of this. Would Ashasuni eventually find him? He shuttered, thinking of the thought. He could never go back. He would die there. " Children eventually live their parents because they need to make their own life. They can't follow in the footsteps of their parents after a certain point in their life. Because if they do, they will never make anything of themselves." He had no children of his own to speak of. Well, maybe a couple illegitimate children from his whorish actions, but none that he could remember. He was only speaking from his own experience with Ashasuni. After all, the god was something like a father to him. He raised him. He taught him things. He might have not been the greatest father but he was a father figure. Leon was surprised by her words. Very surprised. She could sense that he wasn't of this world? That was a first. He had tried to control his aura into making it seem like a regular demon's, but the damn thing just wouldn't listen. It wanted to flaunt what he really was. It wanted to be the star of the motherfucking show. He couldn't help but chuckle. This woman's senses were very a tune....unless.... His multicolored eyes flashed to the stone around her neck and he grinned a sheepish grin. It was causing his aura to sing in response to its own aura. It also smelt like his homeland. Wait, not only smelt, but reeked of it. It had this gleam about it that caused his powers to want to go haywire. Whatever it was, it triggered the devil inside of him. She could also sense that he was sad. For years he has tried to find his emotions behind a mask. After all, Ashasuni used emotions against him often. his smile turned into a blank mask, shutting the world out from seeing what was really going on inside. He couldn't be hurt again. He would be destroyed if he was. He couldn't let people get too close. After all, that's what Ashasuni always taught him. People were meant to keep away. But there was something about this demon that made him want to "spill the beans". There was something that made him want to tell her exactly what was wrong. But he shouldn't. She could hurt him. But then again, what was life without taking risks? " I'm sad because someone is trying to find me and I don't want to be found. I have to hide in human inns to avoid him. After all, his seeing eye stretches beyond Hell." [/blockquote][/blockquote] * - - - the blame was all on me with the painYOU PUT ME THROUGHWORDS 548 TAGGED Inu-Kimi CREDIT PANIC! What the devil said to her about children hit her strangely. It sounded to her like he was a child himself, who had left his parents in a similar fashion to the way he had described. From the way he talked about it, it was obvious to her that he was describing himself. Inu-Kimi understood what the child meant, but she couldn't help but feel that is wasn't so simple for her and Sesshoumaru.
Inu-Kimi knew that Sesshoumaru left her to replace his father after he died, but the way he had left her did not rest well in her heart. He turned his back to her with no regrets, no emotions; he didn't seem to care at all that he would probably not see her very often anymore. It was in that moment when she realised that Sesshoumaru did not have a very strong bond with her.
The daiyoukai turned her head to look at the castle in the distance "Is that the only reason children leave?" She figured that reason was true, but whether or not they cared about leaving personally was different, "I suppose I understand..."
Inu-Kimi looked away from the castle and back ahead at the devil, "I do not know what your parents are like," though she was looking at him, she couldn't help but think of Sesshoumaru. "...but if I were your mother, I would protect you from what is pursuing you and causing your sadness." She had always wanted to say something like this to him:
"Even if a parent may seem like they do not love their child, they may actually just be unsure how to express it." Inu-Kimi knew that Sesshoumaru doubted her love. Though, she wondered why this devil was standing before her? She hadn't thought about it before, but he must have been lurking near her for a reason.
"Why are you here before me, child?" She couldn't help but assume that he had bad intentions with his presence - it was disappointing, since she had been enjoying conversing with him.

* - - - you flooded through my veinsYOU LEFT ME BROKEN "Child? Its been a long time since I've been called that. I've been called other things but not child.
" He chuckled at the thought of that. He wasn't old compared to a lot of devils, but he had long past maturity. But then again, he might not be as old at this demon. Probably no where near her age. He then remembered the rest of her question. Did it seem like he had bad intentions? He stepped back slightly, not wanting to seem threatening. " I don't want it to seem...threatening that I'm near you. I'm just feeding off your aura slightly. I'm not taking anything away from you. Just feeding off of it. I've run out of my blood vials so that's why I have to resort to this...parasitic behavior." He thought of this some more. Would she attack him for it? Would she disappear on him? He hoped that that wouldn't happened. After all, this conversation was interesting and he doubted that he would find another demon with such a strong aura. He sighed, thinking about something else she had said. If she was his mother, she would protect him from whatever was pursuing him? He had to smile at that. Whatever was pursuing him WAS his father figure. " I doubt my father loves me. He only likes using me for whatever reason he has behind it. He might be a god, but he's not the most loving god." The scythe that was on his back pulsated with power as he talked about Ashasuni That damned scythe had been doing that all day. Maybe it could sense that its true master was near? He doubted it, however. He would be able to feel the god from miles away. The god wasn't too good at hiding his aura. He looked at the castle before them and then back at the woman. She seemed to have some sort of connection to this castle. He could only assume that the castle's lord was her son. After all, he had heard in the inn that the lord of this castle had a blue crescent moon on his forehead and not everyone has one of their forehead. She had to atleast be related to him, " Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I couldn't help but wonder if you are the lord of this castle's mother? Just a simple question." Although Inu-Kimi did not even know the devil's name, she couldn't help but feel a pain in her heart upon hearing his words. The daiyoukai wasn't sure why she felt such a connection to this boy. 'Does he remind me of Sesshoumaru somehow...?' She thought about it, but they did not have a lot in common. Perhaps she felt this connection because she believed this boy to be a lost child, and she felt like a lost mother. It was almost as if they were reuniting in a strange way, although they had never met before.
Inu-Kimi smiled slightly at the devil, as she approached. She wrapped her arms around him in an embrace, as she whispered in his ear, "You may feed off my aura, I do not mind." Inu-Kimi pitied this child, not having a mother to care for him, even when he was suffering. She knew that even though Sesshoumaru didn't see her often, whenever he was in a tight spot, he would come to her - thought it was uncommon for him to ever be in such a situation.
"It is true - I am Lady Inu-Kimi of the Sky, and Lord Sesshoumaru of the West is my son." Inu-Kimi didn't stop smiling, though she felt sad as she spoke, "Sesshoumaru took his father's place as the Lord of the West, after he died. He does not depend on me much anymore... So I look out to his castle, and hope that he is happy, as that is all he will let me do for him." Inu-Kimi did not speak after that, and remained still so that she may hold him, as he replenished his health with her aura.

* - - - you flooded through my veinsYOU LEFT ME BROKEN Leon couldn't help but feel comforted in her arms. It felt like a embrace that he had never felt before in his life. After all, his own mother had died the night he was born according to Ashasuni. He bit his lip as he was held and closed his troubled eyes. He felt a pain in the back of his neck where the demonic symbol was. The damned demonic symbol that was keeping his life together. The very same symbol was the one that had brought him back to life.
Despite how warm this woman was, he felt cold. He felt so very cold. It was almost like someone had thrown ice cold water on him. He shuttered, having goose bumps on his normally flawless skin. His eyes opened as he listened to her words and he nuzzled his head into her chest, searching for the warmth. God dammit, he could not feel it. He could feel himself becoming healthier. His eyes had more color to them and his skin was less like a dead person's. He smiled slightly at this. He was starting to look more alive.
"Why are you allowing me to do this? Most demons wouldn't like the dead to even come close to them." He slightly pulled away from her to look into her golden eyes. She seemed sad whenever she would talk about her son. She was really missing him, wasn't she? He could empathize with her. He had long gotten over the feelings on abandonment that he felt whenever he thought about his mother, but he could understand what she felt. They must feel similar at least. It was strange how closely related demons and devils were, wasn't it?

Inu-Kimi wished that she could hold her son like this. She knew that if she tried to embrace Sesshoumaru, that he would likely reject her affection. 'If only I had held him more when he was a young pup...' The daiyoukai tightened her embrace around the child, 'If only I had expressed my love for him more clearly, like a good mother would have.'
She opened her eyes as the child pulled away from her, looking into them as he asked her why she was helping him. The daiyoukai looked out toward the moon as she thought about it - why was she helping him?
Staring into the crescent moon gave her a strange feeling, she always felt more docile during this time. Being a Sky Inu-Daiyoukai, she had a connection to the atmosphere - the moon especially, as it was her birth-mark. She had heard some times before that the moon symbolised motherliness, and concern. '...Perhaps that is why I am being affectionate toward this child.'
Inu-Kimi looked back at him, as he watched her expectantly. She touched her forehead lightly, feeling the energy emanating from her birth-mark. 'It does tend to glow on this night...'
"Honestly, I do not know the answer to your question. Although, I can assume that I am channeling the moon's love and concern, as she is especially in-touch with me on this night." Inu-Kimi took her hand away from her forehead, and folded her hands in front of her. "...I do not understand emotions, though they are always there, ever-changing."
Inu-Kimi thought that she should return home soon, now that the boy was healthy again. "What is your name, child...?" She wasn't sure why she asked, but she wanted to know.

* - - - you flooded through my veinsYOU LEFT ME BROKEN Leon blinked when she asked for his name. Sure there were a bunch of people that ask for his name. Soldiers he runs into, inn dwellers, even some people he meets in the forests he wanders in. Sometimes there was the person that he was about to kill and they asked to know their killer. He could only smile at their request. Why did people want to know who killed them? Did it give them some comfort? He never really knew. He was too involved in taking their blood from their blood.
But what name did he really give them? Was it his real name or a name he came up with at the spot? That's what the real question was. He didn't like telling people his real name. It has given him a lot of grief in the past and he wasn't always sure that the person would stay alive after he drained them. There was magic in this world, after all.
But he wasn't killing her, was he? Why should he have some sort of anxiety about this? She didn't seem to want to harm him after all. A name was just a name....right? Well no. A name gave power at times. It just depends on what name you have. He couldn't help but smile at his racing thoughts. All would be fine., "My name is Leon. May I ask yours?"
